As part of the .IE Digital Town Programme, the Digital Town Awards was developed by our client to showcase the outstanding work in towns around Ireland through their digital projects and initiatives.
The aim of the awards programme is to promote awareness and knowledge of the use digital technologies by Irish citizens, businesses and communities. The awards are for towns of all sizes, ranging from large to small, highlighting the possibilities and achievements through digital initiatives. The programme consists of 14 awards with a total prize fund of €100,000 in 2021.
The inaugural awards programme happened to coincide with the Covid-19 Pandemic so everything was online in 2021. The awards has since moved into a live event in-person from 2022 through to 2024.
Our Task
In 2021 our task was to create a professional and engaging virtual awards ceremony that would appeal to a wide audience and attract the interest of potential applicants and finalists. We needed to produce a professional live broadcast that would be seamlessly accessible to virtual attendees whilst also allowing finalist participation.
In the following years it was to create an event where it would bring community finalists together in a space where the staging and presentation was innovative and appropriate for the message and awards we were presenting.
The Solution
Our team created a custom built, start of the art studio which allowed us to produce a professional live broadcast from the Killashee House Hotel to a wide audience of over 200 attendees and finalists. Not only did we manage the AV and production team, we also created eye catching and innovative stage designs that helped amplify the significance of the event.
To really bring the awards to life we identified and managed a professional MC who flawlessly delivered the live ceremony from the studio.
This virtual event seamlessly moved to in-person in 2022, 2023 and 2024 and was held in The Hodson Bay Hotel and Sheraton Hotels respectively and were a tremendous success.

The Result
The inaugural Digital Town Awards ceremony was a huge success amongst attendees and finalists, helping to further establish the Digital Town Programme. Finalists particularly enjoyed their ability to participate and receive their award live. In the years since all the finalists have participated fully in the awards programme and have attended the event in big numbers to be acknowledged for their work in the community.
